A Way to Be Free

A Way to be Free is a class for those that suffer from the affects of chronic depression and desire A Way to be relieved of the painful symptoms associated with depression.  A Way to Be Free is just one of the offerings in the A Way to Be Here Now - A Mindfulness Program offered by Leslie Vogt, M.A., LLC.

The aim of this program is:

  • To help people who have suffered from depression in the past learn skills to help prevent depression coming back
  • To become more aware of body sensations, feelings and thoughts from moment to moment
  • To help participants develop a different way of relating to sensations, thoughts and feelings--specifically, mindful acceptance and acknowledgment of unwanted feelings and thoughts, rather than habitual automatic, preprogrammed routines that tend to perpetuate difficulties
  • To help participants be able to choose the most skillful response to any unpleasant thoughts, feelings or situations that they meet.

The Core Skill to be learned is how to exit and stay out of self-perpetuating routines that create the spiral down into depression - how to be mindful (aware) and let go of the attachment to current, unsuccessful coping strategies.

Core skills/knowledge can only be acquired through direct experience.  Intellectual knowledge may be helpful or not (because of the mind's desire to set goals and expectations), but, by itself, it is wholly inadequate.  For that reason A Way to Be Free is experiential in nature and requires an 8 week commitment of work in and out of class to create your successful path to freedom from the affects of depression.  The class provides the tools; you provide the labor using the tools!

This class will begin October 6, 2009.  Call today for an initial interview, 303 660-1622, to reserve your spot now, class size is limited to 12.  The cost for the 8 week session plus the initial interview is $270, plus the cost of the CDs.  The cost includes:  initial interview, 8 weeks of class and handouts.
